"Anwar: The Untold Story" made RM1 million in one day

21 May - It was a huge success for the PMX biopic, "Anwar: The Untold Story", which made RM1 million in just one day.

The news was shared by DMY Creation Chairman, Datuk Mohamed Yusoff, saying that he is happy that Malaysians chose to watch a movie about the struggles of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, even when it had to compete with big Hollywood films.

This includes Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3".

Meanwhile, its executive producer Zulkiflee Anwar Haque, most known as Zunar, stated, "The public did not miss the opportunity to fill some selected cinemas around the Klang Valley to watch this film. We hope that the response to the film "Anwar: The Untold Story" will continue because we are targeting a high collection for this film."

The movie stars Farid Kamil as the titular politician, and tells the story of Anwar's struggles from the moment he became the Minister of Finance in 1991 to his sacking in 1998 that brought about the Reformasi movement.

The movie also stars Indonesian actress Acha Septriasa as wife and fellow politician, Datin Seri Wan Azizah.
