CYBERJAYA, June 16 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today said he was not informed of a raid by the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) against Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin’s home yesterday,

“That’s the business of LHDN and the investigative authorities. I was not informed,” he briefly told reporters after performing his Friday prayers at Masjid Raja Haji Fisabilillah here.

Hamzah's home was raided by LHDN's investigators on Tuesday.

Yesterday, The Star news portal reported sources as saying that the raid was believed to be over income the Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general allegedly failed to declare.

It also reported sources linked to the former home minister as decrying the raid as political persecution, insisting that Hamzah’s tax filings were correct.

Hamzah is the latest PN leader to be investigated over alleged financial irregularities.

PN chairman and former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is already on trial for corruption and abuse while former Bersatu information chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan has been charged over the government’s Jana Wibawa scheme.
