KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 — Prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today the unity government, born of the wisdom of His Majesty the King, will not allow the royal institution to be manipulated in the name of freedom.

Addressing his Majesty, Anwar expressly stated the government's intolerance and gave his assurance that the Malaysian constitutional monarchy system will be well-looked after.

"The government will definitely uphold the royal institution by ensuring appropriate action will be taken against any parties that tries to threaten the system and the supremacy of the Constitution," he said in his speech in conjunction with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah's official birthday today.

Anwar also said the formation of His Majesty's government last November has successfully brought about political stability to the country.

He said the government's formation has allowed room for the country's economy to grow, instil confidence amongst domestic and foreign investors, while setting out a sustainable and appropriate governance to ensure the people's well-being and comfort.

"Equipped with the determination and spirit of 'Developing Malaysia Madani', the unity government is committed to working diligently to drive growth and upholding justice and human virtues," he said.

On behalf of the Cabinet, Anwar reiterated the Cabinet's determination to work as a team and strengthen understanding so that no state in Malaysia is left out or neglected.

He said among the areas of focus were the repairing of dilapidated education and health facilities; civil servants housing and furnishing of equipment for national security forces.

Anwar also expressed his gratitude to His Majesty's contribution at the international stage for uplifting Malaysia's diplomatic and economic interest.

"Malaysia will continue playing an active role in voicing out its stance and uphold its national interest in various international forums especially in issues concerning national sovereignty, humanities, securities and disaster management," he said.
