PKR president Anwar Ibrahim today said he is still seeking advice from the party’s grassroots on using a single logo for Pakatan Harapan candidates in the 15th general election.
Asked for comments on the progress of Harapan’s discussion to use its logo in GE15, Anwar said, “we are still discussing”.
“I cannot make a decision on my own so I have to listen to advise from state PKR chapters and our divisions,” Anwar said briefly when met by reporters after a walkabout at Pantai Teluk Kemang, Negeri Sembilan.
“But no matter what, Harapan must be a strong and united bloc,” he added.
Several DAP and Amanah leaders yesterday claimed that the Harapan presidential council had on Aug 23 decided that the coalition’s logo would be used for all of its GE15 candidates.
The leaders also referred to a Harapan retreat in April and the subsequent Port Dickson declaration to present a united front.
Among others, Harapan Youth chief Howard Lee had rebutted PKR Youth secretary Syukri Razab, who accused the Pasir Pinji assemblyperson of jumping the gun.
Syukri also insisted that the Harapan presidential council had not made any decision on whether to use the coalition's logo or PKR's symbol.
On Sept 3, Anwar said Harapan parties in principle have agreed on using a single logo, and that the PKR logo was used in GE14 as the Registrar of Societies at the time did not recognise the coalition.
Later, on Sept 16, Anwar said the matter was still being discussed and that both sides had strong merits to their arguments.
