Anwar Ibrahim appears to chide Azmin Ali over the latter's alleged sex tape after the senior minister claimed the audio recording of the PKR president and his Umno counterpart Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was genuine.

Yesterday, Azmin said he was “confident” that a leaked clip depicting a conversation between the two was authentic.

A longtime PKR leader before he quit the party in February 2020, he said that Anwar had “betrayed” the party and Pakatan Harapan for negotiating with Umno.

Asked about Azmin’s comment at a press conference in Negeri Sembilan today, the opposition leader brushed it off.

“Never mind, that is his view.

“When it comes to videos and audio, he is pandai (an expert),” Anwar quipped to laughter in the audience.

Azmin was implicated back in 2019 in a homosexual sex scandal when videos emerged, with Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz claiming to have engaged in sexual intercourse with the politician.

Azmin refuted the accusation and condemned it as a nefarious “inside job” aimed at undermining his political career.

As for the latest audio recording, Zahid has denied that he spoke to Anwar following the recent Umno general assembly.

Anwar also denied it but questioned if it was wrong for him to converse with the Umno president.

He characterised the outrage over the clip as a distraction from Perikatan Nasional’s failings while Zahid claimed it was a scheme to weaken Umno.
