‘Antisemitic thug blew vape smoke in man’s face when told off’ on Northern line
Police have launched an urgent probe after a thug made an antisemitic slur when told off for vaping on a Tube in north London.
Officers are treating the incident on the Northern line as racially aggravated.
They appealed for witnesses who saw a young suspect blow smoke into the victim’s face on the service from Bank to Golders Green on the evening of Wednesday, February 28.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Between 7.30pm and 8pm, a man was travelling from Bank to Golders Green when he challenged a passenger who was vaping on board the train.
“The passenger then blew the vape smoke in his face, and made an anti-Semitic comment to him.”
The suspect left the carriage at Golders Green Underground station and boarded another train.
On Friday, police released a mobile phone image of a white man, wearing a black puffer jacket and grey jogging bottoms, believing he may have information that could help their investigation.
Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 677 of 28 February.
Alternatively, witnesses can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
