Anti-Vaccine-Mandate Protesters Tear Down COVID-19 Testing Tent as They March Into Manhattan

Protesters opposing New York City’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for public school employees marched from Brooklyn to Manhattan on Monday, October 4.

This footage filmed by Brendan Gutenschwager shows a large crowd holding signs, marching, and yelling, “Let us teach.” Protesters are seen crossing the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan, where they chant, “We the people will not comply.” In the last clip, the crowd boos a COVID-19 mobile testing site in Union Square before a couple of marchers tear it down.

The city’s vaccine mandate, which was initially set to take effect on September 27, prompted a legal battle between the city and a group of teachers who opposed the requirement, NY1 reported.

The mandate was upheld by the Supreme Court on October 1, according to New York City Commissioner of Health Dave Chokshi. Credit: Brendan Gutenschwager via Storyful
