An anti-government protest in the Belarusian capital, Minsk, was broken up by water cannon, on October 11.
Video of the protest shows the deployment of security forces to disperse the crowds. Police officers wearing black balaclavas are seen in the footage dragging protesters into unmarked black vans.
One sequence of video shows a police truck unleashing water cannon into crowds to push them back.
The protest was one of several demonstrations that had erupted across the region in opposition to President Alexander Lukashenko after he announced his sixth election victory on August 9.
The results were denounced by opposition politicians, including Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, who claimed the election was rigged, and the vote was criticized abroad. Tsikhanouskaya and several of Lukashenko’s other political opponents fled the country. Credit: Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty via Storyful
