PUTRAJAYA, Dec 6 — Transport Minister Anthony Loke said today he is declining to comment on politics during official Ministry of Transport business.

The DAP secretary-general said any political questions should only be fielded during events not held at the ministry, adding that it is a practice he has adhered to since the last administration.

“If you didn’t know, my approach is that if I’m in the Transport Ministry building, I will not respond to any political issues.

“Let the other party say what they want, that’s their right. For us, we have been given the mandate, we have been given the responsibility and the Agong assented to us being appointed as ministers, so my job is to focus on my role as the transport minister.

“I would like to apologise to all media friends, first rule of thumb in the ministry as far as press conferences in Ministry of Transport, only issues and questions that are ministry-related,” Loke told reporters today adding that he was not snubbing the press or refusing to answer questions.

He said such questions can be asked during DAP-related events.

Reporters had earlier asked Loke to comment on PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang’s remark accusing DAP of still receiving many benefits despite not holding many Cabinet posts.

DAP was appointed to four ministerships, despite winning 40 seats — the highest among the parties in the coalition government.
