Ant McPartlin is set to become a dad for the first time at 48 after confirming his wife Anne-Marie Corbett is expecting.
A source close to the presenter, one half of Ant and Dec, shared on Saturday that his 46-year-old partner is set to welcome the child in June and that they are “beyond delighted”.
Ms Corbett has two teenagers from a previous marriage but this will be the first time McPartlin will have his own children, having expressed a long desire to do so.
A friend of his told the Sun: “This is the news everyone wanted. Ant and Anne-Marie are beyond delighted.
“It’s no secret that Ant has always wanted children, but that it may never happen for him was something he had, sadly, come to terms with.
“When they found out last year, they were absolutely delighted, but obviously kept the news quiet for as long as possible.”
McPartlin had been married to Lisa Armstrong from 2006 to 2018 and married his second and current wife in 2021, with Declan Donnelly being best man.
The friend added: "He’s already a wonderful, doting father to Anne-Marie’s kids, and together they’re going to be brilliant parents to this latest addition to the family.
“To be having a child two years short of his 50th birthday, with the love of his life, is the stuff of dreams for Ant.”
Donnelly has two children with wife of nine years Ali Astall, his son Jack has the middle name Anthony. McPartlin and Ms Corbett live in south west London.
In an older interview, McPartlin is quoted as saying that he wanted children with his former wife - although this never materialised.
Rumours had been circulating for months that Ms Corbett might be pregnant. She had decided not to join her husband in Australia for the filming of I’m a Celebrity. Ant and Dec last year called time on their Takeaway series but have signed up to produce a rebooted series of Byker Grove - the Geordie show that made their names.
