Before there was Baldur’s Gate 3, there was Divinity: Original Sin 2,the critically acclaimed 2017 tactical RPG that proved Larian Studios were masters of the formula. Now you can grab it for just $13 on Steam.

Normally $45, the Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition is currently 70 percent off on Valve’s PC gaming storefront until May 13. The game features many of the same things players loved about Baldur’s Gate 3 last year, from dense custom character stat sheets to meaty turn-based combat. There are tons of side quests, open-ended exploration, and romance options. Also co-op. The game currently has over 150,000 positive reviews on Steam with an “overwhelmingly positive” rating of 95 percent.

There are flaws to be sure, many of which Larian ironed out in Baldur’s Gate 3, but it’s definitely at the top of the list of games players who need even more Baldur’s Gate 3 in their life should be looking at. Here’s how former Kotaku editor Jason Schreier described Divinity 2 in his original, enthusiastic-but-conflicted review:

It is, on so many levels, an incredible achievement, packed with enough heart, intelligence, and confidence to sustain ten lesser games. It’s a testament to its form, even as it’s held back by it in places. It still feels premature to declare Original Sin 2 an all-time classic, as some have, but I imagine plenty of future games will borrow ideas from it. It’ll be a crying shame if they don’t.

Larian Studios has been making the Divinity RPGs for decades. There are five total, but 2014's Divinity: Original Sin is technically a prequel, the best starting point if you want to get into the rest of the series from the beginning. It’s a lot rougher than its successors, but an excellent history lesson in the road the studio’s been on this last 10 years. It’s also on sale for just $8.

Both games combined will take you about 120 hours. But Larian’s next project won’t be out for years, so you’ll have plenty of time.
