Animals Moved to Safety as Isaias Floods Pennsylvania Zoo

More than two dozen animals at Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown, Pennsylvania, had to be moved to safety after the zoo was flooding during Tropical Storm Isaias on August 4.

According to the zoo, 31 animals were moved from their exhibits. Patch said these included an alligator, otters, porcupines, birds, and other animals.

“Every single animal continued to receive fresh water, their daily diets, and enrichment items to distract and calm them from the storm. Thankfully, all of our animals and staff are safe,” the zoo said in a Facebook post. Credit: Elmwood Park Zoo via Storyful
