Angel Locsin says no to another superhero role
22 Mar – "Darna" star Angel Locsin has recently turned down the opportunity to play a different female superhero character.
As reported on InterAksyon, the actress previously expressed excitement over the announcement of a new Marvel Filipina superhero called WAVE, which will appear for the first time in "War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas" in May.
Sharing the news on Twitter, Locsin wrote, "I'm excited to learn more about this character! I [love] that her weapon of choice is a Kampilan, [which] is believed to be the sword Lapu-Lapu used to strike down Ferdinand Magellan. So, [thumbs up] for that! Regarding her costume, I wonder what's the inspiration behind the design?"
Her tweet quickly received a response from Leinil Yu, the Filipino artist who designed Wave, who wrote, "It's a collaboration of ideas between me, Greg and Marvel editorial. Would love to see you as [Wave], Angel!"
However, days later, when a fan asked if she would say yes to playing the character if a movie adaptation is to be made, Loscin said, "I'm done with superhero roles. But I'm thrilled that the creator replied."
Locsin was originally slated to play Darna again in a new movie adaptation, but had to withdraw from the project due to spinal injury.
