Andean condors fly back into the wild in Chile
Location: San Jose de Maipo, Chile
After years of rehabilitation
three Andean condors were released into the wild
The condor is Chile's national bird
It's also a symbol for power and health
Name: Maria Emilia Undurraga
"The release took years of work, both public and private, from civil society and foundations. We were able to see that when we unite around common goals and work collaboratively, we can achieve big goals."
Two of the birds were born in captivity
and had to learn how to fly around wild birds
Scientists will continue to monitor the condors
using satellite radio transmitters
