Amy Schumer Sets Unscripted Series at HBO Max

HBO Max announced the order of a new unscripted series from comedian Amy Schumer called “Amy Learns To…”.

Spanning eight half-hour episodes, “Amy Learns To…” watches Schumer step out of her comfort zone and into someone’s by learning a new skill, craft or trade from a local expert in her husband’s hometown on Martha’s Vineyard. From diving for clams to selling real estate or repairing a roof, she will meet each challenge with wit, vulnerability and the willingness to try anything.

“We are pumped for this,” Schumer said.

“Amy Learns To…” marks the comedian’s second project with HBO Max. It follows up the 2020 docuseries “Expecting Amy,” which chronicled Schumer’s struggles throughout her pregnancy journey. All while getting ready for the birth of her first-born son, she continued touring in preparation for her Netflix stand-up special, “Amy Schumer: Growing.” The series captured her suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, a rare condition that involves constant vomiting, dehydration and nausea, which led to the partial cancellation of the tour.

“We are thrilled to be working with Amy again,” Jennifer O’Connell said, who is HBO Max’s executive vice president of non-fiction and live-action family. “She is sure to surprise and amaze us with her willingness to push boundaries and try something new, always with a hilarious spin.”

Industrial Media’s The Intellectual Property Corporation will produce, with Schumer, Kevin Kane, Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman serving as executive producers. A release date has yet to be announced.

Schumer is also in the middle of working on “Life & Beth,” an upcoming comedy series part of her first-look deal with Hulu that is set to debut sometime this year. Also serving as writer, director and executive producer, she stars as the titular Beth alongside cast members Michael Cera and Michael Rapaport, among others.
