KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 — While most fans would be content with just meeting their idols in the flesh, Marcos Cid de la Paz wanted to be immortalised for it too.

In a stroke of genius or some might argue, stupidity, he did just that by getting idol Machine Gun Kelly to punch him in the face after a show at the Rock Werchter Festival in Belgium over the weekend.

The 33-year-old American rocker and rapper was on stage when he first noticed the die-hard fan in the crowd holding up a sign that read: “I just came from Mexico for you to punch me.”

“Why do you want me to punch you in the face so bad?” Kelly is seen asking him in a video going viral on social media.

Cid de la Paz is then heard saying, “I love you,” before MGK responds, “I got rings on, dude, that s***’s gonna hurt. I don’t know, it’s a lose/lose for me. I don’t know if I’m going to do it. I’ll consider it.”

When Kelly finally did venture into the crowd before heading offstage, he walked up to Cid de la Paz, held up his sign while looking straight into the camera before delivering the much-desired punch in the cheek.

Kelly then shouted, “I love you!” to the visibly ecstatic Cid de la Paz before leaving.

On Instagram, Cid de la Paz posted photos of the incident and wrote: “The one and only jawbreaker. Thank you very much for punching me in the face. @machinegunkelly #RW23”

While most fans were stoked for Cid de la Paz, some didn’t think so highly of him.

“That’s such a flex to be able to say MGK punched you in the face,” said one. “You should get a tattoo of his fist or something.”

“Some of you need higher standards for yourselves,” said another.

Kelly has been touring around Europe for a month now.

Last month, he allowed a 13-year-old to tattoo him while backstage at one of his shows.
