Score this curved gaming monitor for just $80, a sweet $20 off for Prime Day

What is it?

Why are gaming monitors so expensive? It sometimes feels like everything related to PC gaming is locked behind a paywall, which means you either need to fork over a ton of cash or relegate yourself to a bottom-tier experience. Not anymore! Sceptre's excellent curved gaming monitor is discounted for Prime Day. Pick it up for just $80 (versus the normal price tag of $100) and get 24 inches of high-resolution gaming.

The 24-inch screen, 75Hz refresh rate and HDMI connectivity make this an excellent all-around monitor.

Why is this a good deal?

Curved monitors generally carry a higher price tag than standard monitors, but this baby is on sale for just $80, down from its usual price of $100. This is the lowest recorded price for this particular monitor.

Why do I need this?

The most amazing aspect of this monitor is that it's curved. This keeps every pixel at the same distance from your eyes, which results in a much better overall experience. It has a response time of only 1 millisecond, greatly cutting down on the amount of input lag. This is an important feature to keep in mind for competitive gaming — the more lag you have to deal with, the worse your performance will be.

The Sceptre monitor also has features like flicker-free technology, which results in a crisper picture, as well as tilt adjustment up to 5 degrees forward and 15 degrees backward. There are built-in speakers, too, although you'll likely get better sound quality from a headset (try a pair from our list of best headphones).

You can connect to the monitor via an HDMI port or VGA port, and there are also audio input jacks if you want to connect higher-end speakers to the system. If you don't want to use the included stand, then you'll be happy to hear that this mount is VESA-compatible. (VESA is the standard mounting configuration used by most computer monitors.)

What reviewers say

Whether you want to use it for work or play, know that over 3,000 five-star Amazon reviewers say this is an excellent choice.

"I use mine in the office, and honestly I don't know how I ever survived without this screen," said one five-star reviewer. "The curve is not the newest tech but it makes all the difference. I don't game on it, but from what I have read it is worth it for that purpose. ... Everyone in my office is jealous of it and find excuses to borrow my computer. Overall, fantastic price, fantastic product. I have seen similar ones for double the price and have the same specs if not less in some areas."

Another user backed this up: "This monitor is amazing. I was looking for something good for gaming that would act as a second monitor for my Alienware laptop. This works perfectly! Would buy again for a third monitor. Got here quick too."

"Bought multiple sets of these for our office so everyone could have dual screens. It's a game-changer! The picture is great and the curve of the screen helps ease eye strain (in my opinion). The only downside is that because of the curve, when you have two screens side by side, there's a gap. But that's not a deal breaker for us," one gamer wrote.

You can gain an edge in competitive gaming thanks to the high refresh rate on this monitor. It's great for work, too, say its fans.
