It feels like we've been waiting forever for this announcement, but Amazon finally released the official Prime Day 2020 dates, and we couldn't be more excited for all the big sales and deals. Amazon Prime Day is officially just around the corner, and this year it’s going to be bigger than ever. You can expect more than a million deals online that you won't want to miss.
Let the craziness begin!
When Is Amazon Prime Day 2020?
Set a reminder (with the Alexa that you bought last year) for Prime Day on Tuesday, Oct. 13 and Wednesday Oct. 14, 2020!
Though typically held in mid-July, Amazon chose to hold off on hosting their annual special savings event due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
With Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales still planned for late November, an October Prime Day date will give Amazon members an extra early start on holiday shopping — or just an excuse to splurge on a new Roomba for themselves.
What Is Amazon Prime Day?
Prime Day is Amazon’s annual epic 2-day sale event, featuring significantly slashed prices across the site that are exclusive to Prime members.
There are deals on pretty much everything you can imagine, including big-ticket items like TVs, laptops, kitchen appliances, and of course, highly covetable Amazon products. Every year, the sales get bigger and better, so if you haven’t participated in Prime Day before, now’s the time to start.
When the deals go live on Prime Day, you’ll find on the homepage a mix of Lightning Deals and Spotlight Deals. Amazon usually releases new ones every 5 minutes, so you'll want to refresh, refresh, refresh that browser!
The Lightning Deals only last for a set amount of time, so get them before time runs out. You’ll be able to see the individual time remaining on each Lightning Deal, too.
The Spotlight Deals last until the item is sold out, so shop quickly — once they’re gone, they’re gone. Depending on the item and sale price, these can sometimes sell out rather quickly, so if you want it, get it!
We’re still waiting on the specifics of what million-plus items will be on sale, but until then, check out some of the top deals from Prime Day 2019 to prepare before the big day so you can make the most of it.
You Can Save at Whole Foods, Too!
For Prime Day 2019, Prime members were also able to save big offline at Whole Food Markets across the U.S. In stores, members received discounts on hundreds of sale items and popular products. For a limited time, Amazon Prime rewards members with an eligible Prime membership also received a $10 credit to use on Amazon for Prime Day when they spent $10 in the store.
Expect to see a similar in-store sale this year. Just make sure you're prepared. Have the Whole Foods Market App or Amazon App downloaded on your phone, because you'll need the QR Prime Code for the cashier.
Amazon Prime Membership
For starters, if you’re not already an Amazon Prime member, sign up. Not so sure you want to commit? Sign up for the 30-day trial, and you’ll still be able to access all the deals. For a yearlong membership, it's only $119, which is totally worth it for all the deals you'll get on Prime Day and beyond. Plus, you can't beat 2-day shipping. #heaven
If you're not looking to pay $119 up front, Amazon offers a monthly subscription for just $12.99 per month.
As we get closer to October, be sure to check back for more Prime Day 2020 updates.
