As one of the most eagerly-anticipated shopping events of the year, Amazon Prime Day has no shortage of must-have savings on the latest tech and electronics. Unfortunately, the event has been postponed in Canada, despite running through June 21 and 22 in other countries around the world.

However, just because Prime Day has been paused in Canada, doesn’t mean that you can’t still find huge savings — even on the latest tech. Right now, you can shop a selection of laptops and Chromebooks on sale, with prices starting at under $300. You’ll find markdowns on brands like HP, Acer and Lenovo, including the top-rated HP Chromebook 14.0".

Weighing in at just over 2kg, this Chromebook still delivers an impressive 14 inch screen and crisp images.

Since this laptop is a Chromebook, setup is as simple as signing into your Google account before you’re up and running. Android apps are connected via the Google Play Store, and its easy to use interface is ideal for kids or those who just need to perform basic computing tasks.

In addition to its wallet-friendly price tag, shoppers have been loving the HP Chromebook 14.0" for its screen quality, lightweight design, and battery life. It’s earned a 4.1-star rating from hundreds of customer reviews, with shoppers noting that it’s “worth purchasing.”

“No frills, it is a neat little computer, sign in with your Google info and poof, you are in. Screen is not too bad, keys are nice feeling and the pad is responsive. What works well for some may be a downfall for others, as some reviewers have noted that the Chromebook interface is too simple for more complex tasks, and takes some getting used to if you’re not familiar with the Chrome OS.

“I have found that the Chromebook isn't compatible for syncing to certain products such as Leapfrog, certain printers, casting to certain TVs, or basically trying to do anything outside of what Google Chrome is offering thus far. Still very useful and good quality for the price. I use it for school and don't need anything special or extras, but if I do I can download an app which is nice. It's an Android phone/tablet in laptop form,” explained another review.

Verdict

Considering simplicity is at the heart of the Chromebook’s design, it’s up to you to decide whether it holds up to your lifestyle’s needs. It’s definitely an affordable alternative to other laptops, and is an even better buy now that it’s on sale.
