Amanda Kloots Shares the Sweet Way She Honored Late Husband Nick Cordero on Son Elvis' First Day of School

Amanda Kloots found a sweet way to honor her late husband on her son Elvis' first day of kindergarten.

On a Monday, Sept. 9 episode of The Talk, the actress, 42, shared that her 5-year-old son Elvis recently started kindergarten, which she says was a "tough" transition. Kloots, who lost her late husband Nick Cordero in 2020 due to complications from COVID, recalled that her husband had an image in his head of what parents would wear to this particular school.

"So for some reason, my late husband Nick thought that the dads at this school got to wear capes. And I don’t know where he got this storyline from but it’s not true," Kloots said with a laugh.

"But in honor of Nick, we wore capes to the first day of school. And I’ll tell you what. We both really needed to feel like superheroes that day because that transition was a lot harder than I thought or expected. And for Elvis too," she continued.

Kloots said that it's been a "hard" transition into kindergarten for Elvis, who went from a small preschool to a public elementary school.

"He’s doing good now but it was tough. It was a not easy first couple of weeks," she admitted. "Elvis was crying, I was crying all the way home. I felt like a horrible parent for the first good, like, week and a half."

In June, Kloots shared a carousel of Instagram photos full of throwback shots of Cordero and his son during Elvis' first few days of life. “June 10, 2019 At 6:41am Elvis Eduardo Cordero was born after 56 hours of labor!!! Happy Birthday to Elvis!" the proud mom captioned the post.

She added, "I’m super nostalgic today so forgive all the photos that might be posted. I don’t think you ever feel as close to your partner as you do on the day your child is born. It’s a crazy and beautiful moment that I’ll never forget.”

“Nick was the cutest new dad… Elvis spent the first two days in the NICU and until I was strong enough to go he was running there every two minutes and taking every friend and family member to see his new son! He was SO PROUD. ❤️❤️❤️ How time flies and so much changes but we will always have this day and these memories,” she continued.
