Amanah has declared its full support for PKR president Anwar Ibrahim to form a new government.

Meanwhile, DAP also declared their support for Anwar, but only if he can actually take Putrajaya.

In a statement, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu said all 11 of the party's MPs are supporting the PKR president.

"Amanah fully supports Anwar's leadership as the chairperson of Pakatan Harapan and places our full trust in him to form the new government," he said.

Separately, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng gave a more cautious response.

"In line with the Pakatan Harapan presidential council decision, DAP's 42 MPs will give support to Anwar as prime minister if he has the numbers to form a government," he said.

Mohamad and Lim were previously among those who supported Warisan president Shafie Apdal as an alternative candidate to be prime minister.

This was at the time when Anwar was not able to deliver the numbers to launch a counter-coup against Perikatan Nasional.

Lim, over the weekend, reiterated that he supported both Anwar and Shafie to be prime minister, courting brickbats from PKR.

Anwar then responded on Sunday, saying that he can secure a majority.

The PKR president announced today that he had a strong majority but declined to reveal who is on his side until he has met the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
