Amanah changes candidates for Belanja and Kubu Gajah state seats in Perak
IPOH, Nov 4 — Two Perak Amanah candidates announced last week as contesting the Belanja and Kubu Gajah state seats have been replaced with a new ones ahead of Nomination Day for the 15th general election (GE15) tomorrow.
The party’s state secretary Salman Salleh said that the initial candidate for the Belanja seat Mohd Ikhmal Mohd Iskandar will be replaced by Ahmad Hishamuddin Abdullah.
As for the Kubu Gajah seat, Salman said Mohd Nazri Din will be replaced by Rusli Bakar.
“The change in the two candidates for the two state seats has been agreed and approved by Amanah national leadership and Pakatan Harapan council,” he said in a statement.
However, Salman did not reveal in the statement the reason for the change.
Meanwhile, national daily Utusan Malaysia reported that Mohd Ikhmal withdrew as he did not want to contest and had submitted a letter of withdrawal to the party.
Mohd Ikhmal, who is Perak Amanah Youth communication director, said that he was initially offered the Bota state seat before being told to contest the Belanja state seat at the last minute.
“On October 25, I received a letter via email to prepare for the Bota seat. I informed my family and party members, and we made the necessary arrangements.
“However, on October 27, I received a second email asking me to switch to the Belanja seat as the Bota seat will be allocated to a candidate from PKR,” he said.
Malaysia goes to the polls on November 19.
