Women's esports powerhouse Alter Ego Celestè have claimed their fifth-straight championship at the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Game Changers SEA: FSL VALORANT Circuit after a perfect run through the circuit's Open V tournament, which culminated with a 3-0 sweep over Galaxy Racer on Sunday (1 August).

Alter Ego Celestè headlined the list of eight teams that qualified for the FSL VALORANT Open V playoffs alongside Galaxy Racer, Kid Mai Ork, Asteria, Aricat Aresta, Magnifique, Hashira SR, and Renatus White.

Alter Ego Celestè made short work of Magnifique, Kid Mai Ork, and Galaxy Racer in consecutive 2-0 sweeps to become the first team to reach the tournament's grand finals. Galaxy Racer then defeated Magnifique in the lower bracket finals to earn the right to challenge Alter Ego Celestè in the grand finals — a rematch of the finals of the Open III finals where Alter Ego Celestè swept Galaxy Racer.

Galaxy Racer were determined to not let history repeat itself as they held a 7-5 round lead in the first half of game one of the finals in Icebox. However, Alter Ego Celestè rallied after the side switch and went on a 8-3 run to take their first victory in the finals.

Game two in Split also started out as a close affair, with Alter Ego Celestè narrowly holding a 7-5 lead by halftime. But much like game one, Alter Ego Celestè tightened things up during the break then went on a 6-2 run after the side switch to take a commanding 2-0 series lead in the finals.

Smelling blood in the water, Alter Ego Celestè absolutely dominated the first half of game three in Breeze to take a 9-3 advantage. Despite Galaxy Racer's best efforts, they could do little to stop Alter Ego Celestè from claiming four-straight unanswered rounds to win game three, 13-3, and claim the FSL VALORANT Open III championship with a clean 3-0 sweep.

With their victory, Alter Ego Celestè bagged the grand prize of US$1,500 and their fifth-straight championship at the 2021 FSL VALORANT Circuit. Meanwhile, Galaxy Racer took home US$1,200 in consolation.

FSL partnered with VALORANT developer Riot Games in June to expand the 2021 FSL VALORANT Circuit into the official VCT Game Changers series for Southeast Asia Southeast Asia.

The series will have four stages, starting with the FSL Open, a monthly open group stage tournament where the top eight teams will earn points for the FSL Open Leaderboard. The last tournament of the FSL Open is scheduled from 16 to 29 August. The top three teams in the leaderboard will then qualify for FSL Elite.

The next stage is the FSL Open Overtime in September, where teams that finished 4th to 19th on the leaderboard will compete for three qualifying spots to FSL Elite. This is followed by the FSL Wildcard, which is open to teams who have not qualified for the FSL Elite, or teams new to the circuit. The top two teams will earn a spot for FSL Elite.

Finally, the FSL Elite, which is currently scheduled for October, will see the eight teams that have qualified play for a prize pool of US$25,000. The last team standing at FSL Elite will claim the grand prize of US$10,000 and the title of VCT Game Changers Southeast Asia champions.

Alter Ego Celestè has already qualified for FSL Elite, while Galaxy Racer and Kid Mai Ork are in good position to claim the other two spots.

Meanwhile, 16 other squads are in the running for a spot in FSL Overtime, namely Renatus White, Aricat Aresta, Magnifique, Asteria, UndeRank Female, Oasis Gaming Aqua, Virago, Lightality Estelle, Team Lugiami, Wildfire Sphinx, BIG SCYTHE, TiAMAT, Cerulean Sentinel Esports, Dynasty Arise, JAI-MHA, and Achilles Amr Esports.
