Alter Ego Celestè completed their conquest of the 2021 VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Game Changers SEA: FSL VALORANT Circuit by emerging victorious at FSL Elite with a 3-1 rout of MAD Army in the grand finals on Sunday (31 October).
Alter Ego Celestè swept the FSL VALORANT Circuit's open tournament series, winning all six events from March to August, to top the circuit leaderboards and earn their spot at FSL Elite.
Joining them were the two other teams in the leaderboard's Top 3 as well as three more teams from FSL Overtime and two other squads from FSL Wildcard, including MAD Army.
Alter Ego Celestè and MAD Army are no strangers to one another, as the latter defeated the former in the grand finals of the FSL VALORANT Circuit's first two open tournaments this year. At FSL Elite, these two familiar foes first met in the upper bracket finals.
As the overwhelming favourites to win FSL Elite, Alter Ego Celestè cruised to the upper bracket finals as expected after they swept TC Arise and Renatus White.
Meanwhile, MAD Army showed they were the dark horses of the tournament by upsetting BIG SCYTHE and Nigma Galaxy to face Alter Ego Celestè.
Alter Ego Celestè made short work of MAD Army to become the first team in the grand finals, though MAD Army quickly secured a rematch in the grand finals after defeating Renatus White in the lower bracket finals.
Alter Ego Celestè looked dominant as usual to start the finals, taking comfortable wins at Icebox (13-8) and Split (13-9) to take a commanding 2-0 series lead. However, MAD Army didn't go down without a fight and made the eventual champions bleed in the next map.
Both teams were in a 6-6 deadlock in the first half of game three at Ascent. While Alter Ego Celestè came out of the halftimes of the previous two games with guns blazing, MAD Army managed to hold them off this time and grind out a 7-5 run in the second half to steal away game three.
Alter Ego Celestè were undeterred from their game three loss, however, as they came back with a vengeance in game four at Bind to build an 8-4 lead by halftime.
Despite MAD Army's best efforts to extend the series, they only managed to steal two rounds before Alter Ego Celestè ultimately won the game, 13-6, to complete their conquest of the 2021 FSL VALORANT Circuit.
With their victory, Alter Ego Celestè claimed the grand prize of US$10,000 and the right to call themselves the first-ever VCT Game Changers SEA champions. Meanwhile, MAD Army bow out with US$5,000 in consolation.
