HGTV's Alison Victoria never planned on being on TV — let alone having her own hit show (Windy City Rehab) as well as roles on Rock the Block seasons one and two and Ty Pennington's new show Ty Breaker. However, when her work as a designer opened other doors, she had to say yes. In fact, she had to say "f*ck yes."
Victoria opened up about her journey to HGTV fame on the latest episode of HGTV's House Party. Hosted by Brian Balthazar and Loren Ruch, this mini talk show invites top network stars to the studio (which is set up like a living room) to gossip, play games, compete in DIY challenges, and more, all while enjoying some adult beverages.
During Victoria's appearance, Balthazar praised the Chicago designer for her hard work on Windy City Rehab. However, he also commented on her personality off-camera. "Socially, you're fun and funny," he said. "You like a cocktail, a dirty martini," he quipped to which she chimed in "I love to drink. I love to stay out late."
As the trio's banter wound down (but not before mentioning a wild night in Vegas), Ruch started getting into the questions. "How did you get into this world you're in?' he asked Victoria, referring to her role on HGTV's Windy City Rehab.
"Design was always what I wanted to do, she said, adding that because she knew what her dreams were at such a young age, it helped her fast-track her career. "So it was very easy to get into the business," she explained, noting that she never knew that it was going to lead to TV.
Victoria explained that a random email sent to her from a production company out of Sacramento kickstarted her TV career. "We're looking for a designer in Chicago, it's for an HGTV show, anybody want to do it?" she said, recalling its context.
"Literally, my email [in response] was "f*ck yes," she said, then asking "can we say that on here?" "Why not," Ruch said as both he and Balthazar laughed, absolutely loving her response.
Other design stars to be featured on HGTV House Party include David Bromstad, Tarek El Moussa, Jasmine Roth, as well as some famous superfans. Stephen “tWitch” Boss, Allison Holker Boss, Derek Hough, and Margaret Cho are among the stans who will stop by to join the fun. HGTV House Party is available to stream only on discovery+.
