Ali Wong Joins ‘Paper Girls’ Series at Amazon

Ali Wong is set to appear in the upcoming “Paper Girls” series adaptation at Amazon.

Wong joins previously announced series leads Sofia Rosinsky, Camryn Jones, Riley Lai Nelet, and Fina Strazza. The series, which hails from Amazon Studios and Legendary Television in association with Plan B, is based on the graphic novel series by writer Brian K. Vaughan and artist Cliff Chiang.

“Paper Girls” follows four young girls who, while out delivering papers on the morning after Halloween in 1988, become unwittingly caught in a conflict between warring factions of time-travelers, sending them on an adventure through time that will save the world. As they travel between our present, the past, and the future — they encounter future versions of themselves and now must choose to embrace or reject their fate.

Wong will play Adult Erin – the woman twelve-year-old Erin Tieng (Nelet) grows up to become. When the two Erins finally come face-to-face, they are forced to confront the gap between their childhood hopes, dreams, ambitions and the reality of their grown-up life.

Wong is a highly-popular stand up comedian, having released the hit stand up specials “Baby Cobra” and “Hard Knock Wife.” As an actress, she is known for starring in, co-writing, and producing the romcom “Always Be My Maybe.” On the TV side, she currently voices one of the main characters on the animated series “Tuca and Bertie,” which has moved to Adult Swim for Season 2, and will star with Steven Yeun in the dramedy series “Beef” at Netflix.

She is repped by UTA and Hansen Jacobson.

Stephany Folsom and Christopher C. Rogers are set to serve as executive producers and co-showrunners on “Paper Girls,: with Vaughan, Chiang, Plan B, and Christopher Cantwell also executive producing.
