Alex Jones returns to 'The One Show' after maternity leave

Alex Jones is will be making her return to our screens sooner than expected.

After going on maternity leave from The One Show in August, the presenter is going to be back on the show's iconic sofas again from Thursday.

The 44-year-old will be taking back presenting duties on the BBC's flagship magazine programme and will be joined by McFly star Harry Judd.

The pair will be introducing viewers to the show’s plans for this year’s Children In Need fundraiser.

Jones will also be sure to update her fans and colleagues about how motherhood is going.

This is her third child with her husband Charlie Thomson and the first girl, who they named Annie.

When announcing her departure earlier this summer, Alex got emotional about saying goodbye to The One Show.

"I know it's the third one but it's really hard to go away," she confessed.

Thanking her fans for sending her homemade presents for her little one, she continued: "And I just want to say, if I've missed anybody, a big thank you to everybody who's knitted and given little gifts for the baby.”

"There's about 24 cardigans, she’s gonna be in cardigan heaven!" joked Jones.

"Honestly, I loved every minute. It's very hard to leave," added the presenter with tears in her eyes.

As well as making a remote appearance to introduce the baby to the show right after the birth, Jones made a quick comeback last month to co-host with Jermaine Jenas when presenting the opening of the RHS Garden of Hope at the Chelsea Flower Show.

Talking about little Annie, Jones said: "You know what, we have been great. The boys are taking to little Annie brilliantly."

The One Show airs weekdays on BBC One at 7pm.
