KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 — PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli today warned Pakatan Harapan (PH) supporters against holding public gatherings to celebrate Istana Negara’s announcement of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Malaysia’s 10th prime minister.

He also asked them to remain calm and wary of potential provocation, reminding Malaysians of the need to move forward and rebuild the country post-Covid.

“Just as the leadership of PKR and PH have not issued any statements throughout the efforts to form a unity government since the 15th general election results were finalised, I call on all Malaysians, especially supporters and members of PKR, PH and their political friends to respect the urgent need to ease the situation,” he said in a statement.

“We all need to move forward and learn to work together to rebuild Malaysia, for the future and prosperity of every citizen from all groups, race, state and background,” he added.

Istana Negara issued a statement confirming Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah’s decision to appoint Anwar as prime minister, after days of uncertainty on who would take the top post.

The 15th general election last Saturday resulted in a hung Parliament as none of the three major coalitions gained a simple majority of 112 seats to take Putrajaya.

PH won 82, followed by Perikatan Nasional with 73, and once-dominant Barisan Nasional with only 30.
