Alaska State Senator Says She Can't Travel to Juneau After Being Banned From Alaska Airlines

Alaska State Senator Lora Reinbold requested on September 9 to be exempt from voting on legislative business in Juneau, saying that her ban from local carrier Alaska Airlines over mask-wearing prevents her from attending sessions at the capitol.

Video from April 22 captured by Juneau resident Nona Dimond shows an encounter between the Republican state senator and Alaska Airlines staffers in Juneau International Airport.

“We have notified Senator Lora Reinbold that she is not permitted to fly with us for her continued refusal to comply with employee instruction regarding the current mask policy,” Alaska Airlines spokesperson Tim Thompson told the Anchorage Daily News back in April.

Dimond said, “I routinely send my son between Juneau and Anchorage for visitation with his father. Lora Reinbold repeatedly created scenes at the airport over the mask-wearing rules. I was particularly annoyed this day, as she held the flight up that my son was departing on.” Credit: Nona Dimond via Storyful
