Alan Tam deletes all social media accounts except Weibo

5 Aug – After repeatedly getting backlash from netizens over his support for the Hong Kong police amid allegations of police brutality, Alan Tam has reportedly decided to delete his social media accounts.

As reported on Mingpao, netizens recently noticed that Alan was no longer on Facebook and Instagram, but continued to post updates and photos of himself on his Weibo account, which currently has more than four million followers.

The singer started his Instagram and Facebook accounts two years ago, accumulating hundreds and thousands of fans throughout the years by posting many updates and photos from his daily life.

However, since showing his support for the Hong Kong police throughout the months of the continuous protests against the Chinese government, Alan's Instagram and Facebook accounts became the place for former fans and netizens to express their frustration and anger towards him.

Making things worse was the fact that pro-democracy netizens even slammed other artistes who were acquainted with Alan, as experienced by singer Edmond Leung recently, after he was criticised for hanging out with Alan after the latter shared a photo of the two of them following a game of football.
