Fire crews conducted air operations over the Caldor Fire burning in El Dorado County, California, dropping more than 9,000 gallons of retardant over and around the blaze, which burned 117,704 acres (about 184 square miles) as of Tuesday, August 24.
This footage released by Cal Fire’s Amador-El Dorado Unit on Tuesday shows an air tanker dropping fire retardant through a smoky sky.
The fire was nine percent contained after destroying hundreds of structures and threatening more than 17,000 others, Cal Fire reported.
