KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 — A total of 472 areas in the Klang Valley will be affected by an unscheduled water disruption starting 3pm today, Air Selangor said in a statement this afternoon.

Air Selangor listed the five districts that are affected as Petaling, Hulu Langat, Sepang, Kuala Langat, and Putrajaya.

However, a check among the affected areas shows parts of Kuala Lumpur are also affected, such as Mutiara Bukit Jalil.

Air Selangor attributed the disruption to an odour pollution at the Jenderam Hilir Raw Water Pump Station.

“Air Selangor would like to announce the temporary suspension of the Sungai Semenyih water treatment plant at 6.15am and Bukit Tampoi water treatment plant at 11.30am, May 3, 2022,” it said.

“Alternative assistance via [water] tanker trucks will be mobilised to our consumers, with priority given to critically-affected areas. Air Selangor is taking every effort to minimise the impact of disruption to affected consumers.

“Consumers in the affected areas are advised to store enough water until supply can be restored,” Air Selangor added.

This comes amid the second day of celebrations for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which is observed by Muslims nationwide.

Water disruptions have become increasingly common in the Klang Valley in recent years.

Before today, the latest disruption occurred on April 30, affecting 463 areas in Selangor, after odour pollution was detected at the Jenderam Hilir Raw Water Pump Station — the same station affected today.
