Salernitana centre-forward Boulaye Dia is attracting interest from Napoli, as well as having ‘plenty of admirers’ from England and France, according to his agent.

The 26-year-old joined the Italian club on loan with an option to buy from La Liga side Villarreal last summer. They can make his move permanent for €12m (£10.5m) at the end of the season.

Leeds United, as well as Everton, are thought to hold a concrete interest in Dia. So, it will be interesting to see if they rival Napoli for his signature.

On Thursday, the Senegal international ruined Napoli’s title celebrations by scoring a late equalizer at the Stadio Maradona. Preventing them from claiming the Scudetto with six games to spare.

In a recent interview, his agent, Frederic Guerra, was very open about Napoli’s interest in Dia. But, also said staying at Salernitana isn’t out of the question.

Speaking to Kiss Kiss Napoli, as cited by Football Italia, he said: “I have Napeolitan roots, so I’d have preferred to see Dia score two goals and Napoli win 3-2.

“I still know nothing about Dia’s future at Salernitana. First of all, the club must gain survival, which hasn’t happened yet,” the agent continued.

“We have to wait and then discuss a transfer and all the rest.”

Dia agent: ‘He has admirers in England and France’

Salernitana are currently in 14th place in the Serie A table – seven points adrift from the bottom three. In all likelihood, they will avoid relegation. Mathematically, however, they aren’t out of danger just yet.

“For now, I can say nothing because Salernitana are not sure about playing in Serie A next season,” Guerra added.

“[Napoli director Cristiano] Giuntoli is following him, but he has plenty of admirers, also from England and France.”

Indeed, as previously reported by TEAMtalk, Leeds are tracking Dia and are considering a summer approach.

The 26-year-old star has proved a revelation since moving to Salernitana on loan from Villarreal. He currently has 11 goals and six assists from 28 appearances in Serie A – a goal contribution every 1.6 matches.

That form means Dia is now just one goal short of equalling the record as the Italian club’s best-ever tally in a single season in Serie A.

Now, Leeds are reportedly keen on signing Dia this summer. This could be beneficial for Salernitana, too, given they could buy him for just £10.5m and sell him on for an instant profit.

However, Everton also registered their interest in the Senegalese forward in January, so could rival the Whites for his signature.

Both Leeds and Everton need a new striker

The Premier League duo’s interest is understandable, given how desperate they both are for a proven goal scorer.

For Leeds, Patrick Bamford has struggled for both form and fitness for the best part of 18 months now. So far this season, the one-time capped England man has five goals and two assists from 26 appearances.

And while Rodrigo is enjoying his best season since signing for the Whites, the Spain forward now has just one goal in his last nine appearances.

Furthermore, his deal at Elland Road expires in the summer of 2024, leaving Leeds with a big decision on his future this summer.

As for Everton, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has endured yet another injury-plagued campaign. This term, he has made just 14 appearances in the Premier League – scoring two goals in the process.

In fact, the Toffees have scored the least amount of goals of any team in the division – netting just 27 times in 34 games.

With that in mind, Leeds and Everton may well rival Napoli for Dia’s signature this summer. Although, to have any chance of signing the Salernitana star at all, they will need to avoid relegation.
