Former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor has mocked Leeds United for celebrating “like they’ve won the Champions League” against Bournemouth.

The Yorkshire side let an early one-goal lead slip after Rodrigo’s penalty and found themselves 3-1 down early into the second half before an incredible comeback saw them win 4-3.

Goals from Bournemouth trio Marcus Tavernier, Philip Billing and Dominic Solanke put the Cherries in command before Sam Greenwood, Liam Cooper and Crysencio Summerville scored one each in the last half an hour to give Leeds all three points.

Summerville followed up his late winner against Liverpool last week with another last-gasp goal to seal the victory over Gary O’Neil’s men at Elland Road.

The stadium exploded in the 84th minute when Summerville got their late winner but Agbonlahor thought the celebrations were over the top, as if Leeds had “won the Champions League”.

Celebration cop Agbonlahor told talkSPORT: “The only thing I was disappointed in was how Leeds were celebrating. They win 4-3 today and they celebrate like they’ve won the Champions League.

“Defend properly and you don’t concede three goals at home to Bournemouth.

“Bournemouth have looked decent going forward but you can’t be conceding goals like they did under Bielsa.

“Today was like watching Bielsa’s Leeds. Yes, it was a great result to get the win but they were celebrating like they’d won the Champions League or had beaten Manchester City at home.

“They should be beating Bournemouth at home.”

Jesse Marsch insists that Leeds are now “looking for consistency” after an entertaining week of football against Liverpool and Bournemouth.

When asked if he had enjoyed the last fornight, Leeds boss Marsch replied: “No. The good part is we feel like we can win now. Before it was like we were more waiting to lose. I think we’ve flipped that.

“I want to make things simple for us, but that’s not the Leeds way I hear.

“We’re just looking for consistency. It makes life easier for a manager instead of living on the edge of your emotion. I feel like we never have simple victories.”

Substitutions Willy Gnonto and Greenwood changed the game in Leeds’ favour as the Whites moved up to 12th in the Premier League table.

On Gnonto, Marsch said: “Wherever you play him on the pitch, his savviness and clarity as to what he should try, how to play against the ball. He’s a very intelligent young man.

“He knows multiple languages, understands tactics and obviously has quality. He’s earning more and more (playing) time. He’s making a big case for himself.”
