Afghan National Army Captain Shares Experience of Crossing Taliban Checkpoints

A woman described as an Afghan National Army Captain has spoken about the challenges she faced while passing Taliban checkpoints while traveling to evacuate from Kabul to the UK, in footage posted on August 24.

The UK Ministry of Defence said Captain Muraal and her family were safely evacuated once they made their way to Hamid Karzai International Airport.

Muraal had served for eight years with the Afghan National Army, during which time she worked on the county’s National Security Council.

Before boarding her flight to the UK, she said that she felt relieved and grateful to be safe, and that she hopes to continue her studies in England, and help the UK army in “any capacity” she can. Credit: UK Ministry of Defence via Storyful
