Eruptions continued at the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma as lava created a new path on Friday, October 1.
Aerial videos shared by the Instituto Geologico y Minero de Espana (IGME) show the new eruptions and emissions at the volcano, taken on October 1.
Lava flows destroyed about 1,000 buildings and were threatening another 1,200 by October 1, according to El Pais.
The Guardia Civil warned residents near the eruption to stay inside their homes “given the possibility of harmful gas” as the molten lava sizzled in the sea. Credit: Instituto Geologico y Minero de Espana via Storyful
