This weekend Adele finally graced us all with her presence as she hosted Saturday Night Live for her first appearance on US TV in three years. Seeing as the Grammy-award-winning singer credits SNL with helping her to break into America 12 years ago, it feels only right that she decided it was the perfect place for a bit of a come back.

Sadly for us die-hard Adele fans - that's all of us then - the singer confirmed that her "album's not ready" and didn't perform on the show, saying she was 'too scared' to both host and sing at the same time. "I'd rather just put on some wigs, have a glass of wine or six and see what happens."

I mean, fair.

However she DID break into song at one point while taking part in a sketch spoofing reality show The Batchelor.

Wearing a divine black off-the-shoulder top and tailored trousers, Adele also joked about her (sadly) much-talked about weight-loss: "I know I look really, really different since you last saw me but actually, because of all the Covid restrictions and the travel bans, I had to travel light and only bring half of me – and this is the half I chose."

The 32-year-old also gushed about how much she loved the show, admitting she had always wanted to be a host.

"My God, I'm absolutely thrilled to finally be hosting this show," she exclaimed. "Not only do I genuinely love this show, but it's the show that broke my career in America, 12 long years ago. You see I was the musical guest back in 2008 when Sarah Palin came on with Tina Fey, so obviously a few million people tuned in to watch it. And well, the rest is now history."

Adele initially announced that she would be hosting SNL last Sunday.

"Bloooooody hellllll I’m so excited about this!!" she wrote on Instagram. "And also absolutely terrified! My first ever hosting gig and for SNL of all things!!!!"

"I’ve always wanted to do it as a stand-alone moment, so that I could roll up my sleeves and fully throw myself into it, but the time has never been right," she said.

"But if there was ever a time for any of us to jump headfirst into the deep end with our eyes closed and hope for the best it’s 2020 right? It'll be almost 12 years to the day that I first appeared on the show, during an election...which went on to break my career in America, so it feels full circle and I just couldn’t possibly say no!"

"I am beside myself that H.E.R will be the musical guest!!" Adele added. "I love her SO much I can’t wait to melt into a flaming hot mess when she performs, then confuse myself while I laugh my arse off in between it all. See you next week ♥️🤞🏻."

Now we've got our Adele fix for a little while it's time to go back to patiently waiting for that fourth album...
