ALOR SETAR, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- A mother was among 17 individuals who were detained after being found positive on drugs in Op Cegah which was conducted by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) of Kuala Muda, yesterday.
Kuala Muda District AADK chief Arnida Ishak said the 39-year-old woman who had five children, aged one to 16 years old, was detained at her house in Kampung Belakang Taman Sri Putra Bakar Arang, Sungai Petani.
‘’The woman, who works as a house cleaner was found positive on syabu. We also detained two men and a woman who were in the house. We believe the house was used as a port for drug abuse,’’ she said in a statement here today.
Arnida said AADK targeted 12 areas which had been identified as drug nests in the Kuala Muda district .in the operation which started at 9 am until 11.30 pm.
She said 18 men and two women, aged 19 to 52 years, were detained and taken to the Kuala Muda AADK to undergo urine tests.

Seventeen were found positive on morphine and syabu while three were freed after being found free of drugs.
She said all those detained were being investigated under Section 3(1) of the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983 which would enable them to undergo a treatment and rehabilitation programme under AADK.
