My family loves it for breakfast, a snack, and dessert.

I’ve never been much of a breakfast person. As a night owl whose preferred working hours are far later than they should be, I like to slowly and gently ease into my day. Before kids, that meant grabbing a cup of coffee and listening to a podcast on my hour-long commute to the office.

Now, as a work-from-home parent to an early-rising five-year-old, that's no longer my norm. Mornings are a hectic rush to get out the door as quickly and efficiently as possible, and that requires stocking our kitchen with easy, preschooler-approved breakfast items.

One such item is Greek yogurt. The tangy, protein-packed snack has been a household staple since my son was an infant. Over the years, we’ve tried nearly every brand and flavor available at our local supermarkets, and one has stood out amongst the very crowded field of both dairy and non-dairy contenders: Trader Joe’s Guava Passion Fruit Greek Yogurt.

Why I Love Trader Joe’s Guava Passion Fruit Greek Yogurt

I first became a fan of Trader Joe’s Guava Passion Fruit Greek Yogurt when I was pregnant with my son. It was a delicious breakfast that not only felt filling, but I could also take on the go if I was running late. I loved the yogurt so much, it quickly morphed into an anytime food—I would dig into a cup as a midday snack that satisfied my sweet tooth and also late at night when pregnancy hunger pangs struck.

My son is just as big of a fan. When we head on our bi-monthly trips to Trader Joe’s, he’ll make a beeline for the dairy case and bypass all the other yogurts for the guava passion fruit. We love both the texture and flavor of the yogurt—it’s lusciously thick and creamy with just the right amount of tartness. My kid has always loved sour foods (the first time he tried a wedge of lime as a baby, he enthusiastically signed for more) so this yogurt ranks high on his list of favorite foods.

The notes of guava and passion fruit are subtle, providing just the right amount of tropical fragrance. It doesn’t taste artificial or perfume-y, which can sometimes happen with flavored yogurts. And unlike some other passion fruit yogurts I’ve tried, it doesn’t contain seeds, a potential choking hazard for kids (and source of teeth injuries for adults—ask me how I know).

Tips for Serving This Yogurt

Most of the time we enjoy the guava passion fruit yogurt as is, but it’s even better with a heaping handful of granola. I highly recommend another Trader Joe’s product, the Toasted Coconut Granola, which further enhances the island vibes.

I can also attest that a cup of this yogurt easily sates dessert cravings. Drop in a few dark chocolate chips, spoon into a mold to make froyo popsicles, or use it in any of those trendy TikTok recipes that call for yogurt—the guava passion fruit would be absolutely delightful as the base of the viral yogurt clusters or swirled on top of bread for custard yogurt toast.
