An “abused” rescue beagle lost a whopping 58 pounds after an epic two-year weight-loss journey, his new carers said.
Wolfgang the beagle is estimated to be about 10 years old, animal welfare advocate Erin McManis said. He was rescued from a “kill shelter” in Phoenix, Arizona, in May 2019, weighing in at 90 pounds. According to the video’s captions, Wolfgang was “abused” and “left.” The most recent footage, recorded on October 2, 2021, shows him at a healthy 32 pounds.
McManis and her husband adopt and foster obese dogs and help them reach a healthy weight. In the Instagram post, she advocates for keeping dogs healthy through diet, exercise, and guidance from veterinarians.
