90-Year-Old Veteran Skydives to Honor Late Wife and 'Keep Her Memories Alive'

"Every time I jump out of a plane, I can hear her say, 'Billy, you're as crazy as ever,' " Bill Rogers said of his late wife

A 90-year-old Korean war veteran chose to honor the memory of his late wife in a way that many would not expect — by skydiving.

On Sunday, July 7, Bill Rogers celebrated his wedding anniversary with his wife late Natalie, who died in 2017, by skydiving for the sixth time, according to WBZ NewsRadio 1030.

"We had a great life together. A great life," Rogers, from Manchester, New Hampshire, told the outlet. As for how he started skydiving, he explained, "I said, I gotta do something to keep her memories alive, ‘cause we had a lot of beautiful memories. So I said, guess what, I’ll jump out of an airplane."

The couple, who met in high school, welcomed two children, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren together.

Rogers, who completed his annual skydive this year at the Skydive Pepperell in Pepperell, Massachusetts, told ABC affiliate WCVB that he felt his wife's presence as he took the plunge.

"My wife talked to me all the way down!" he shared. "She said, 'I've got you in my arms.' "

As for what he thought she'd say about his unique way of honoring their anniversary, he told the outlet that, "Every time I jump out of a plane, I can hear her say, 'Billy, you're as crazy as ever.' "
