“9-1-1: Lone Star ”engagement? Watch Tommy propose to Pastor Trevor in exclusive preview clip

"Love is in the air," star Gina Torres teases of the Fox drama's fifth and final season. "There's a wedding." But is it her character's?

Last season of 9-1-1: Lone Star ended in a wedding, and now it looks like another one is headed our way.

In a preview clip exclusive to Entertainment Weekly from season 5, episode 2, Tommy (Gina Torres) and Pastor Trevor (D.B. Woodside) are practicing a dance routine that falls apart when the parents get involved. But when Tommy's twins and Trevor's daughter leave the room, Tommy decides to give into a spontaneous impulse and propose.

The seeds of Tommy's proposal were planted at the end of last season, when the couple acknowledged they were getting more serious while attending Carlos and TK's wedding.

"They’re in a good place," Torres tells EW of Tommy and Trevor (in an interview conducted prior to the filming of season 5). "They just are. And they’re sweet and they come together in a way that is supportive of each other. I think we saw that in a couple different episodes during [season 4]. Our relationships to our daughters, and each others’ daughters.... Who we are to each other has kind of trumped whatever societal or community expectations there might be. I don’t think Tommy ever thought of herself as a preacher’s wife or girlfriend, so I think it’s a learning curve for both of them, and they’re doing well. They’re doing great with it all."

Finding chemistry with Woodside has been easy for Torres, who has also shared the screen with him on 24Suits, and Pearson. (They co-starred on a CBS pilot at some point as well.)

"I adore D.B.," says Torres. "He is just a doll. He’s a good human being and he's a talented actor and he's also just.... What more can I say? That's somebody you want to be around. I just feel so lucky and so blessed that we were able to get him and it's moved in the direction it has."

While the preview clip does not reveal Trevor's answer, Torres did tease a wedding coming to Lone Star's fifth and final season while speaking to EW on the People and Entertainment Weekly live Emmy's Red Carpet show earlier this month.

"No one is going to be disappointed.... I mean, they're going to be disappointed that it's ending, but, I mean, the stakes could not be higher," she said. "There's a wedding, so I'm just going to tease that. Love is always in the air. And, oh my God, the saves are even more epic. I think there are some of my most favorite rescues in this season. And Tommy's storyline is going to be intense, so hold on."

9-1-1: Lone Star season 5, episode 2, "Trainwrecks," airs Monday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
