There’s been a hole in the collective hearts of Ru Paul's Drag Race fans since the UK series wrapped last year, but BBC Three’s Canada’s Drag Race has proven the saving grace for our summer viewing needs. Here, ahead of the latest episode airing this Friday on iPlayer, we round up the absolute best sassy reads, poignant one-liners and puns from the show so far for your reading pleasure.

1. “I’m Ilona Verley, and I’m a f*cking b*tch.” - Ilona Verley

Well, that’s one way to get our attention. Ilona's opening line on the season premiere officially kicked off the series with signature Drag Race sass. She’s known for her sharp tongued shade, but there’s plenty of soul under that sassy exterior: this queen is here to represent her indigenous heritage as one of Canada’s Nlaka'pamux people.

2. “I wish I knew they were coming - I would have put on some eyebrows.” - BOA

Our girl BOA spoke for all of us in episode 4 when she surveyed the line-up of ten nearly-naked pit crew. After all, there’s not a woman alive who hasn’t experienced the “I wish I’d known” feeling when you unexpectedly bump into a hottie - at a not-so-convenient time.

3. “My mum used to say, ‘tits and teeth, tits and teeth!’” - JIMBO

Thanks to this smashing runway advice from JIMBO (and his mum) in episode 4, we now have a new werk-it mantra for whenever we’re looking to make an entrance.

4. “I’ve been so far from the bottom [in the race], that my husband would be impressed that I’m such a top.” - Scarlett BoBo

We trust there's no explanations needed for this joke from episode 4 - LOL.

5. “When my dad asks who I’m dating, I say I’m dating a girl called 'Priyanka'. So now when he watches Canada’s Drag Race, he’ll finally be able to meet her!” - Priyanka

One of our favourite queens, Priyanka, divulged her complicated relationship with her conservative father in episode 3, and while the family secrecy shrouding her sexual orientation and drag career must have weighed heavy, we love her pure positivity and willingness to follow her truth. And by the sounds of one of her latest IG posts, everything worked out just fine for Priyanka!

6. “My signature is I do what I want, when I want to do it.” - JIMBO

Listen up, ladies: we could all take a page out of JIMBO's self-confidence book in episode 1. This queen has a background in clown and marches to the beat of her own drum - and we’re marching right alongside her.

7. “It was a bald decision.” - Rita Baga

Regal Montreal queen Rita Baga gave us one of our favourite lines so far when she revealed her newly-shaved ‘do in episode 4, proving her commitment to the competition shows no bounds.

8. “By being here, we are proving that the sky has never been our limit.” - AnaSTARzia Anaquway

Pageant queen AnaSTARzia was shot and nearly killed in a hate crime while living in the Bahamas, which led her to immigrate to Canada. Her moving declaration in episode 3 speaks to her personal strength and beautifully summarises the show's core message. No matter their backstory, all of our Queens of the North have overcome huge adversities in their journey to living their most authentic selves, and we love nothing more than to watch and celebrate them for their charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent.
