Holby City spoilers follow.

Next week on Holby City, Cameron strikes again after facing a setback, Nicky has a decision to make and Essie gets devastating news that will change her life forever.

Here are the seven biggest moments to watch out for...

1. Cameron faces a setback...

It's a big day for Cameron as he pays for his performance review, but is left furious when he takes a devious peek at his appraisal before the meeting.

Things go from bad to worse for Cameron when Ange confirms that she did indeed mean everything written down.

Ange explains to Cameron that she can't sign off his performance off late and suggests it could be another year until he's ready to progress to the next stage. And no, he's not happy.

2. …And later strikes again

Fuming after his knock back from Ange, a sulking Cameron finds little sympathy from Donna, who simply implores him to buck up his ideas and be better.

After being further wound up by a patient, Cameron decides to take matters into his own hands and crosses another major ethical line. But what is it? And is he prepared for any fatal fallout?

3. Fletch's health takes a turn for the worse

Fletch appeared to be through the woods in last night's episode, after undergoing a successful operation for prostate cancer.

Worryingly, Fletch's health takes a major turn for the worse in next week's scenes, which leaves him needing emergency surgery.

Evie is devastated when she turns up at the hospital to find Fletch being rushed off to theatre, but will he be all right?

4. Nicky goes up against Jac

Nicky's day gets off to a relatively good start when she receives a rare, glowing report from her hard-to-please boss Jac.

Unlike Cameron, Nicky's performance review is a highly positive one and she's touched when Jac also acknowledges the financial disadvantages she's faced in her personal life.

Full of enthusiasm following her appraisal, a revitalised Nicky focuses her efforts on finding a life-saving treatment for her family friend Brenda. Unfortunately, her attempts soon put her at odds with a disapproving Jac and her day begins to spiral.

5. Essie gets devastating news

Essie's cancer story will take another tragic turn next week, when she gets the news she has been fearing from the start.

Sacha is visibly concerned when Essie announces that her consultant has called her in for a check-up mid chemo cycle and things go from bad to worse when Isla falls unwell with chicken pox as well.

Essie is quietly devastated by the events with Isla, but it soon becomes clear that she's hiding some other more tragic news that could change their lives forever.

As Essie reels from what the consultant told her, she finally plucks up the courage to tell Sacha, but what does the future hold for them now?

6. Max faces the music

Max is still reeling from her discoveries in last night's episode, as the news about Kestrel reverberates around the hospital. Having pulled out of the deal, Max delights Jac by giving Darwin the contract instead.

One person who, unsurprisingly, is not happy about the developments is Guy Self and furiously confronts Max in front of the team.

Deciding that honesty is the best policy afterwards, Max bravely addresses her colleagues – profusely apologising for everything that's happened and vowing to be more transparent in future.

7. Nicky has a decision to make

Once again, Nicky's day starts to spiral out of control when her mum Tracy brings even more problems to her doorstep.

Things go from bad to worse when Donna approaches Nicky about some money Zav loaned her a while back, leaving her in more financial straint that ever before.

Torn between her mounting personal and professional problems, Nicky knows that something has to give, but what – and who – will she choose?

Holby City airs these scenes on Tuesday, June 30 at 8pm on BBC One.
