Five teenage boys have been charged in connection with an alleged sexual assault that took place not far from Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan.

All five male youths are from Hamilton, York Regional Police said in a Friday news release. They face two criminal charges each: sexual assault and forcible confinement.

Police said three were arrested on Oct. 11, while the other two were apprehended this week.

York officers were called to the area of Norwood Avenue and Jane Street, near the theme park, around 1 a.m. on Oct. 6 for a report of a sexual assault, police said in their initial public warning about the incident.

Police said a female youth was approached by a group of "at least" five teenage boys she didn't know at that time.

The boys brought the victim to another location where they allegedly sexually assaulted her, police said.

The accused were not identified, due to provisions in the Youth Criminal Justice Act, nor did police release their exact ages.

Initially, police said they were 15 to 18 years old.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
