Christopher Bess went viral on Instagram as he helped his dad coach high school basketball

At only 5 years old, Christopher Bess already knows what he wants to be when he grows up.

Bess, better known as Coach CB to his team, spends most of his days on the basketball court. As the son of a North Carolina high school basketball coach, Coach CB's parents discovered that he was interested in his dad's profession at an early age.

The proud parents tell PEOPLE they learned about their son's skills when he was about 2 years old.

"His dad coaches and his brother plays, so he's spent a lot of his young life on the basketball court and football field," they say.

The 5-year-old has gone viral on Instagram for his passionate locker room speeches, during which he hypes up his team as they get ready to get back on the court.

"I coached my whole butt!" Coach CB says in one video. "I coach my whole butt off. And when I say I coach my whole butt off, I coach my whole butt off! When I coach my whole butt off, y'all play your whole butts off."

"Towards the end of last year, my husband started letting him sit at the end of the bench during games and practices," Bess' mother tells PEOPLE. "The guys are so good with him. They look out for him and never make him (or me) feel like he's a bother. They're great with him."

As for Coach CB's favorite thing about coaching? "Teaching the guys!" he tells PEOPLE.

When he gets older, Coach CB has plans to follow in his dad's footsteps and become a head coach.

"In the NBA & NFL and WBNA & college," the tiny coach adds of his future goals.
