NILAI, Jan 22 (Bernama) -- A total of 427 summonses were issued to road users for various offences during the special integrated operation in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations.
Negeri Sembilan Road Transport Department (JPJ) director Azrin Borhan said a total of 2,665 motorcycles and vehicles were inspected in the operation which entered its third day today.
Most of the summonses were handed out to those who had expired licences and whose machines had expired road tax, he told reporters here today.
On Monday and Tuesday, the operation, joined by various government agencies such as the police, Immigration Department, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and National Anti-Drugs Agency, was carried out in the Port Dickson and Seremban areas.
Meanwhile, Azrin said they also checked 188 immigrants and 14 of them were detained for not having valid travel documents or overstaying.
During the operation, 25 of the 316 people checked, tested positive for drugs.
The two-week special integrated operation will end on Feb 2.
