Liverpool are in need of a midfield revamp in 2023 and they have reportedly been keeping an eye on a lot of potential targets.

The Reds need to strengthen their midfield as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner have all left on free transfers.

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly on the lookout for at least two big-name midfield additions as he looks to get Liverpool back up the Premier League table.

We’ve taken a look at every midfielder that Liverpool have been linked with since the summer transfer window closed.

Premier League

Alexis Mac Allister

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have already presented their project and financial proposal to Mac Allister and are leading the race for his signature.

Moises Caicedo

Caicedo has been starring alongside Mac Allister in Brighton’s midfield and a report from 90min states that Liverpool are big admirers of the 21-year-old.

Declan Rice

Arsenal remain Rice’s most likely destination but Sky Sports have revealed that Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United have also expressed an interest in signing the West Ham captain.

Matheus Nunes

Despite only joining Wolves last summer, Nunes has already been linked with a move away and Football Insider claim that Liverpool are exploring a deal to buy the Portugal international.

Ruben Neves

Liverpool could potentially make a double raid on Wolves as Football Insider claim that they are showing strong interest in Neves, who is valued at around £50m.

Joao Palhinha

Palhinha has enjoyed an impressive debut season at Fulham and Football Insider claim that Liverpool have sent scouts to watch the midfielder on multiple occasions.

Romeo Lavia

Despite Southampton’s struggles in 2022/23, Lavia showcased his huge potential and The Times believe that Liverpool are monitoring his situation.

Jacob Ramsey

Goal claims the in-form Villa midfielder – compared by some to Jude Bellingham – is also on the Reds’ radar. But with a price tag of at least £50m, a move appears unlikely with Villa unwilling to sell.

Mason Mount

Mount is yet to sign a contract extension at Chelsea and The Guardian state that Liverpool are keeping an close eye on his situation.

N’Golo Kante

Spanish outlet Nacional state that Klopp believes that Kante would fit in perfectly at Anfield and has now asked the Liverpool board to sign the midfielder, who is available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Conor Gallagher

Alongside Mount and Kante, Liverpool are also keeping an eye on another Chelsea midfielder as the Independent revealed that Gallagher features high up on their list for midfield reinforcements.

Rodrigo Bentancur

Bentancur has enjoyed an impressive first year at Tottenham and while a serious knee injury has ended his season, reports in Spain claim he was coming under Jurten Klopp’s watchful gaze.

Youri Tielemans

Tielemans is set to become a free agent and Football Insider have revealed that Liverpool are plotting a move for the Leicester City midfielder.

James Maddison

Maddison was Leicester’s standout performer in the Premier League in 2022/23 and TEAMtalk exclusively revealed that Liverpool are ready to swoop for the midfielder. 

Bruno Guimaraes

As per reports in Spain, Klopp has ordered Liverpool to piece together a £88m offer to Newcastle to try and tempt them to sell Guimaraes.

Ethan Nwaneri

The Times claim that Liverpool are keeping tabs on the 16-year-old, who made his senior debut for Arsenal earlier this season.

French source Jeunes Footeux reported that Liverpool and Chelsea both hold an interest in the Sheffield United midfielder and have been attentive to his situation.

George Hall

Hall has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Birmingham City and a report from the Daily Mail revealed that Liverpool have been scouting the 18-year-old.

Alex Scott

Another teenage talent, Scott is currently with Bristol City but has been watched by some senior members of Liverpool’s recruitment team, per the Daily Mail.

Hayden Hackney

Hackney earned rave reviews for his performances for Middlesbrough in 2022/23 and 90min claim that Liverpool have already checked on the 20-year-old.

La Liga

Aurelien Tchouameni

Tchouameni rejected Liverpool in order to sign for Real Madrid last summer, but the Daily Mirror claim that he remains on their radar and is ‘unhappy’ with his current situation in Spain.

Federico Valverde

Liverpool reportedly made an enquiry for Valverde in the summer and Fichajes believe they will reignite their interest in the Real Madrid midfielder in 2023.

Frenkie de Jong

De Jong has been heavily linked with Manchester United in recent months but ESPN claim that Liverpool have also made contact with the midfielder’s representatives.

Gabri Veiga

Veiga has enjoyed a brilliant breakthrough season at Celta Vigo and TEAMtalk understands that Liverpool are leading the chase for the midfielder, who has a €40m release clause. 

Mikel Merino

Merino has been in brilliant form for Real Sociedad this season and journalist Rudy Galetti claims that he is now on Klopp’s list of midfield targets.

Marcos Llorente

Llorente is valued at around £35m as Atletico Madrid look to balance the books and a report from Fichajes states that Liverpool are willing to table an offer of that size.

Guido Rodriquez

Fichajes also reported that Liverpool and Everton have both been impressed by Real Betis’ Rodriquez, who would be available for around €30m.

Yunus Musah

Musah impressed at the World Cup and 90min have since said that Liverpool have made contact with his representatives to register their interest in a transfer.

Rodrigo De Paul

After winning the World Cup with Argentina, Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodrigo De Paul has been linked with Liverpool – who have held interest in him before – by sources in the Spanish media.

Teun Koopmeiners

As per Corriere dello Sport, Liverpool have ‘already taken the first steps’ to acquire the Atalanta midfielder’s signature.

Sofyan Amrabat

Amrabat shot to prominence following his performances at the World Cup and Foot Mercato journalist Anas Bakhkhar revealed that Klopp has met his agent.

Eljif Elmas

According to journalist Ahmet Ercanlar, Jurgen Klopp spoke to Elmas over the phone and told the Napoli midfielder that he wants him at Liverpool.

Piotr Zielinski

Zielinski reportedly came close to joining Liverpool in 2016 and Polish outlet Meczyki claim that the Napoli star is on Klopp’s list of targets once again.

Jude Bellingham

It’s no secret that Bellingham was Liverpool’s top transfer target in 2023 and this has been confirmed by the likes of Fabrizio Romano, Bild and many more.

But it’s now been reported that the Reds have had to pull out of the race for his signature due to the finances involved and Real Madrid have become favourites to sign the midfielder.

Dominik Szoboszlai 

Danish journalist Daniel Nielson confirmed Liverpool’s interest in the RB Leipzig midfielder, explaining that he is a potential alternative to Mason Mount.

He is reportedly ready to make the switch to Merseyside and a potential deal would cost £45m plus bonuses.

Joshua Kimmich

While Marca claim that Liverpool are interested in Kimmich, Bayern Munich have no plans to sell the Germany international.

Florian Neuhaus

The former Swansea City flop is being monitored by Liverpool as he struggles for game time at Paris Saint-Germain, according to Football Insider.

Luca Sucic

Sucic has already been dubbed the new Luka Modric and his impressive performances for Red Bull Salzburg have reportedly caught Liverpool’s attention.

FootballTransfers claim that the 20-year-old is on the Reds’ preliminary list of targets and he reportedly has a release clause in his Salzburg deal worth around £17.6m.

Enzo Fernandez

Liverpool were reportedly monitoring the Argentina international, but he has since joined Chelsea in a deal worth £107m.

Florentino Luis

According to 90min, Liverpool are interested in Fernandez’s former midfield partner at Benfica and have sent scouts to watch Luis.

Miguel Ugarte

Ugarte has been in excellent form for Sporting CP and Portuguese outlet Record claim that Liverpool are ready to submit their opening bid.

Orkun Kokcu

A report from Football Transfers has revealed that the Reds are contemplating a move for Kokcu, who has just captained Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title.

Mohammed Kudus

On December 1, TEAMtalk exclusively revealed Liverpool to be one of four English sides interested in taking the Ajax midfielder on board.
