4 People Stabbed at Sydney Church Service, Days After Mall Attack That Killed 6

The New South Wales Police said a man has been arrested following the incident, which took place on Monday, April 15

Four people, including a bishop, have reportedly been stabbed at a church service in Sydney.

According to BBC News, The Independent and news.com.au, the attack happened during a sermon that was being live-streamed on the church’s YouTube page.

The incident happened on Monday, April 15.

According to The Independent, the attack took place at Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley at around 7:15 p.m. local time.

“A police operation is underway in Wakeley, following reports of a stabbing,” the New South Wales Police said in a news release. “Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command attended a location on Welcome Street, Wakeley following reports a number of people were stabbed.”

A male has been arrested following the incident and is assisting police with their inquiries, per the release.

“The injured people suffered non-life threatening injuries and are being treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics,” it added.

The incident comes two days after six people were killed after a man with a knife attacked shoppers at a mall in Sydney.

The individual fatally stabbed six people and injured several others at Westfield Shopping Center in Bondi Junction on Saturday, April 13, New South Wales Police confirmed in a press release.

A 9-month-old baby was among those injured.
