MANILA, Nov 29 (Bernama) -- Following are some news brief items on the 30th SEA Games involving Malaysian athletes in Philippines today:
LOSING START FOR BEACH VOLLEYBALL TEAMS
The men’s and women’s beach volleyball squads opened their campaign at the SEA Games on a sour note when they lost to their respective opponents at the Subic Tennis Court.
The men’s team went down 8-21 and 15-21 in the first match before losing once again to Indonesia 19-21 and 8-21.
The women’s squad was trounced 10-21 and 6-21 in the first match to Thailand before losing again to the same opponents 11-21 and 11-21 in the second match.
WOMEN’S FLOORBALL SQUAD HELD TO 4-4 DRAW BY HOSTS
The women’s national floorball team were held by hosts Philippines to a 4-4 draw in their fourth preliminary round match at College of Human Kinetics Gym, Manila.
In their maiden victory, Malaysia had earlier scored an 8-2 win over Indonesia in their third match on Wednesday, and will be facing Philippines again on Sunday for the bronze medal deciding match.
The men’s national team narrowly lost 7-8 to Philippines in their last preliminary round match at the same venue.

MIXED FORTUNE FOR NATIONAL ICE SKATERS IN PRELIMINARY ROUND
Men’s national ice skater, Julian Yee put up a sterling performance in the men’s short event after collecting the highest score with 63.35 points at SM Megamall Ice Skating Rink, Manila.
Both women’s national ice skating athletes, Aina Sorfina Mohd Aminudin and Chew Sze Chyi however could not emulate Yee’s fine outing when they could only muster 25.700 and 22.800 points for the seventh and eighth placing respectively.
